Mysuru: Mysuru is one of the best planned and maintained city in India and also leads the list of cleanest cities in the country. While Mysuru is a smart city in itself, the state government is open to extend its support towards making the city smarter, Minister for Urban Development, GoK, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, while addressing the gathering at a two-day International seminar on ‘Smart Cities, a builder’s perspective’.
The seminar Buildtech’ 15 was organised by Builders’ Association of India (BAI) and CREDAI, Mysuru in association with Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) here today.
The minister said that Mysuru was the right city to conduct such seminars as it has the potential to be the smartest city. He assured that his government will consider the resolution taken at the seminar and take it to the logical conclusion. He called upon the housing and construction sectors to work collectively towards the growth of the country in general and city in particular.
Speaking on the occasion, State President, CREDAI, V K Jagadish Babu felt the need of better connectivity between Mysuru and Bengaluru. He urged the government to start a few fast trains between the two cities and improvement of air connectivity as well. He also stressed of the 6-lane road project between Mysuru and Bengaluru.
“The government should also consider the implementation of City Development Plan (CDP) for the growth of the city without which the growth cannot be achieved,” he said and added that the development have to be carried out in the outskirts of the city while the core areas and heritage part of the city should be left untouched.
He also stressed on the “indiscriminate conversion of land” and called for “systematic growth.”
Mysuru is diligently planned by the Maharajas of Mysore and the infrastructure, architecture and buildings are the living example, pointed MLA Tanveer Sait. “Mysuru is already a smart city. It is the first city to have electricity, underground drainage system in the south Asian subcontinent and pipe water supply. We should now look at maintaining it well,” he said.
He urged the government for the vertical growth of the city in the outskirts and maintained that the city has the highest potentiality of tourism.
