Mysore: Special Treatment Cell to treat victims of domestic and sexual violence in total compliance with provisions of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. 2005 will be inaugurated at century-old Cheluvamba Hospital in city by District Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad here on September 26.
Speaking at the District-level review meeting on the implementation of the Act, Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha said that the facility which will be inaugurated on Sept.26 will be open 24 hours and provide necessary assistance to victims of domestic and sexual violence with doctors, lawyers and councillors to guide the victims to file complaints with police personnel posted at the centre for the purpose.
Stating that the same will benefit victims from running from pillar to post to lodge complaints, the DC added that the complaints would be later be transferred to jurisdictional Police Stations and added that while councillors would be appointed by the centre, legal assistance will be provided by District Legal Services Authority.
Other required arrangements at the centre will be made in coordination with Women and Child Welfare and Police Departments, she said and added that a toll free helpline 1091 will also be provided.
