Mysore :A family living in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home district is on the streets since the past one year following a social boycott.

The family of Venkataraju, son of Honnaiah alias Late Honnarayya in Mavinahalli village of Jayapura Hobali is suffering following a boycott by their community members. The family of Venkataraju including his wife, two kids and two old women staged a demonstration in front of the DC office here along with his household articles and also a portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar.
Venkataraju explains his plight as so. He says his father was doing Chakra job in the village and used to dispose carcass of dogs that die in the village. The government had thus given him 9.10 gunte land in survey number 140. After his father’s death, some community leaders had created fake documents and had transferred 6.21 gunte of land out of the total 9.10 gunte in their name taking advantage of the fact that his mother was illiterate.
Venkataraju says when he came to know about this, he filed a petition in the court. Following this his community people held a Gram Panchayat session and have boycotted his family for the folly of moving court against them.
He says the Panchayat has warned the village people against mingling with his family and offering them jobs by warning them of imposing a penalty of Rs 501. Tears roll down Venkataraju’s cheeks when he says he has been leading a pathetic life with his family since the past one year.
He said there has been frequent assaults on his family members over the land issue and that his mobile phone was receiving anonymous calls demanding to withdraw the court petition and that he would be murdered otherwise. He also said a police complaint has been futile and his family was living in constant fear.
