Smriti Irani faces ire for no action on KSOU mess, fake degree issue

Mysuru: Congress students’ wing NSUI on Friday staged a protest in the city, demanding immediate resignation of HRD Minister Smriti Irani after a Delhi court took cognizance of a complaint filed against her for allegedly giving false information about her educational qualification.
“We want the immediate resignation of Smriti Irani. The education minister of the country having a question mark on her educational degree is a huge disgrace”, the protesters said.

“The union also blamed her for not taking any action on the recent issue of UGC acting on KSOU. The Open University has students more than 4 lakh students from backward class, dalits and minorities and 50% of them are women, being a woman she should have understood their plight. We will hold infidinate strike untill she resigns”, the union added.

State general secretary  Nagesh Kariyappa, Secretary Manoj, district president Dayanand, vice president Rohith, Sathish, Inayath, Shaukath, Babu, Raghu, Raju and Ashok were present.

The protest was held in the heed, after a complaint was filed by freelance writer Ahmer Khan, who alleged that Irani, in her three affidavits before the Election Commission (EC) while filing nominations for her candidature for Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha polls, had purportedly given different details about her educational qualification.
