Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah began his election campaign by organising a massive road show in Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency, which gave him political rebirth. He exuded confidence on his victory and sought people’s support to widen the victory margin in the forthcoming Assembly elections due on May 12.
Braving hot sun and sweltering heat, the CM accompanied by scores of leaders and party workers went on a whirlwind tour of Chamundeshwari constituency covering Bharath Nagar, Rammanahalli, Kalasiddanahundi, Hanchya, Galagara Hundi villages and asked people to cast their votes in his favour.
“During the last five years, I have worked for the welfare of the poor, backward classes, scheduled castes, tribes, women, students and provided many schemes for the benefit of larger sections of the society”, said CM Siddramaiah. Through Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Maithri, Manaswini, free education for girls, farm loan waiver, the demands of wider sections of society have been fulfilled, he added addressing the people on his campaign trail at several locations.
Terming the achievements of his government as historic, CM reminded the people that he was the only chief minister after D Devaraja Urs to complete the 5-year term, winning 7 times in 10 elections in his political career.
Despite JDS and BJP making tall claims of defeating him, CM exuded confidence in the electorate and asked them to show the same love and affection to ensure his landslide victory.
Unsure of visiting the constituency often in the future due to many commitments, CM asked the people to bless him so that he could return once more as their favourite chief minister before retiring from politics.
Former MP C H Vijayashankar, former MLA Sathya Narayana, Son Dr. Yatindra, confidante K Marigowda and several other leaders accompanied the chief minister during the road show.
