Mysuru: In a shameful incident, an SI mercilessly thrashed a social activist for informing to senior police officials about a flesh trade racket functioning in Vijaya Nagara police station limits.
In the assault, Siddu alias Siddalengegowda, the activist has injured his leg and is presently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
It is said that Siddu brought to the notice of the senior police officials and the NGOs about the flesh trade racket functioning in the jurisdictional police station limits, with the support of the local police.
Raged by this, on December 31 night, SI named Puneeth had allegedly stopped Siddu who was on his way back home and took him to the police station citing order from the Police Commissioner.
He was tortured at the station and was freed at 3 pm, the following day, after taking his signature on a blank paper.
The SI allegedly also threatened Siddu of falsely implicating him in some case, if he informed the senior cops about the flesh trade going on in the jurisdictional police station limits.
When Siddlingegowda complained to the City police Commissioner, SI reportedly misled city Commissioner B Dayananda by stating that Siddu was taken into custody for creating ruckus after consuming alcohol in the area.
Now Siddu has filed complaint against the SI Puneeth and a constable with the Human Rights Commission, DGP and City police Commissioner.
