Seniors beat up junior over petty reason at DYES sports hostel

Mysuru: In a shocking incident, seniors at Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Hostel in Mysuru allegedly beat up a junior on Saturday over a petty issue.

The victim, 15-year-old TM Dimple, studying in ninth standard staying at DYES sports hostel was allegedly beaten up by her senior WR Harshitha, who recently won a gold medal in the Hammer Throw event at the state level athletic meet held in Bengaluru. Apart from beating Dimple, Harshitha along with her friends SG Priyanka and Vasuda used filthy language towards Dimple and another girl Sonika.

Trouble began when the seniors looking for their clothes questioned Dimple. It is said that Harshitha even slapped Dimple. Dimple later informed her friends and the warden. Kavya, the warden reprimanded Harshitha and later took Dimple to nearby hospital

Dimple’s mother Pushpalatha demanded that action should be taken against Harshitha. “Today it has happened to my daughter, it shouldn’t be repeated again,” she said.

K Suresh, Assistant Director, DYES, Mysuru district said, “Soon after coming to know about the incident, I visited the hospital and also spoke to the parents. I have summoned a meeting with both the parents. Whoever is found guilty will not be spared”.
