Mysore: The security has been beefed up at Nandi statue in Chamundi Hills, here after the episode of a mentally ill created trouble recently. The grills are being laid around the Nandi statue and preparations are under way to install CCTV. The entry points are being constructed for the benefit of tourists arriving at Chamundi Hills at midnight.
The grills are being laid along with entry points to protect the Nandi statue that has been carved out of a single stone. The main gates were locked during the night, which will be allowed to open by the authorized temple priests. These works were carried out on the instructions of Chamundi temple managing trust and state archaeological and museum department, while the cost in this regard will be recovered from tourist by way of entry fees.
The entry points will begin to function in 4 locations to access Chamundi Hills. The larger gates will restrict the movement of tourist in late nights. The entry points are being laid at Tavarekatte, Lalit Mahal, Helipad Road, Uttanahalli and Nanjanagoodu Road. The police will man these entry points.
