Mysuru: SBM Manju of JD (S) who secured 2426 votes won the by-election in ward no 32. The counting was held on Wednesday morning.
On the voting day, on Sunday, only 4923 voters out of 10258 turned up at the polling booths, which was a rather shocking aspect of the polls.
Though there were five candidates in fray for the election, it was triangle fight between JD (S) candidate SBM Manju, Congress candidate BK Prakash and BJP candidate K Madesh. Manju who is more popular among the voters won the election by 309 votes and thus the JD(S) retained the seat at ward no 32.
The ward was was earlier represented by C Mahadesha, who was unseated as he was convicted in a double murder case and is now serving life imprisonment.
