Mysore: The rural police arrested Chandru, brother of Suman Kittoor, sandalwood movie director and journalist, on charges of killing his wife by poisoning. The police has also registered case against Sumana Kittoor for supporting her brother in this regard.
The deceased has been identified as twenty-four-year-old Mamata, daughter of Shivanna, a native of Hosoor village in K R Nagar taluk. Mamata was married to Chandru, brother of Sumana Kittoor, residents of Kittoor village in Piriyapattana taluk, about 3 years ago. The couple was happy for a few years, and developed marital discord, while Chandru began to cause physical and mental abuse. In spite of the family elders tried to restore their strained relations, Mamata sent divorce notice to Chandru.
Mamata has gone to discuss the issue with Chandru at his Sukhi Fancy Store in Kittoor, when both quarreled and Chandru tried to kill her by forcing her to consumer poison. Mamata collapsed on the spot, while the general public taken Mamata who was critically ill to Government hospital at K R Nagar, Hosoor. She was later taken to K R Hospital at Mysore where she pronounced dead.
Mamata’s father Shivanna lodged complaint at Bettadapura police station that Chandru was responsible for Mamata’s death, because he was ill treating her, along with Sumana Kittoor, mother Hombamma. PSI J G Satish registered a case in this regard and began the investigations.
Protest by laying dead body
The family of Mamata staged protest in front of the house of Chandru in Hosoor village by placing the dead body and demanded unless Chandru comes to the spot, they would not go ahead with cremation. The members of women organizations also supported the protest.
