Mysuru: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister H C Mahadevappa’s son, an accused in the sand mining case has been provided a constitutional post by the state government.
Sunil Bose has been appointed chairman of the Housing awareness Committee for the T. Narasipur Assembly Constituency.
Under Secretary in the Government Housing Department C S Sivakumar Swamy through an official order appointed chairperson and members to the T. Narasipur Assembly Constituency Housing Awareness Committee for the implementation of the Dr. B R Ambedkar Nivas housing project. The committee, under the chairmanship of Sunil Bose, will oversee the selection of beneficiaries for the rural housing scheme.
Two months ago, Dr. Yathindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too was appointed president for a similar post in Varuna Assembly Constituency. This was done in the wake of allegations about misuse of power by Yatindra for involving government officials in the meetings and development programmes, despite not having powers to do so. Sunil Bose’s elevation now is on similar lines as he is only accused but not convicted!
Sunil Bose was the strongest candidate to contest Nanjanagud Assembly by-election but could not proceed further as his name was linked to the sand mining case which eventually forced him to stay out. He has been accused of bribing an official in the Department of Mines and Geology to the tune of Rs 1 Lakh.
Reacting on the development of providing the constitutional post to Sunil Bose, former leader of the T. Narasipura Congress, Attanahalli Devaraj said, “It will give rise to further abuse of power. When Sunil Bose without power and just with his political clout could throw his weight around, then one can imagine the repercussions with power” and added “it amounts to giving a free license to misuse power.”
