S-VYASA aims to get 50 cr people perform yoga on common protocol

Mysuru: Last year during first international yoga day, nearly 20 crore people from 200 different countries participated in the common protocol, this year we have planned 40 to 50 crore people from more than 230 countries to practice common protocol said HR Nagendra, Chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) Yoga University and who was the chairperson of the inaugural International Yoga Day and also Yoga guru of prime minister Narendra Modi.

Last year the duration was just 35 minutes but this year it is extended by ten more minutes apart from 15 minutes provision has been made to include Pranayama (breathing), Yoga Nidra (Cooling off), Dhyana (Meditation) and Satsang (congregation of the truthful) which takes total duration to an hour of yoga practice on International Day of Yoga where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be joining Nagendra at Chandigarh on June 21 between 7am and 8am.

HR Nagendra said, “The inaugural international yoga day was really great hit. We had overwhelming response from not only across the country but also across the world. This year we have planned much more grandeur. Every year we planned international yoga day in different state; this year four states Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Chandigarh was shortlisted finally it was the committed decided to conduct in Chandigarh. The international yoga day which will be held on June 21 will be a big program, 30,000 people in one place and in 200 different places with over more than 1 lakh people will be following common protocol between 7am to 8am. When compare to last year we have added two more asanas. On June 20, Brahmakumaris will be performing Yoga at Red fort. Yoga gurus Jaggi Vasudev, Ramdev and Ravishankar will also be taking huge role in promoting yoga not only across the country but also in other parts of the country” added Nagendra.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh who took part in the inaugural International Yoga Day said that many students who are pursuing various courses at Harvard University, which is known as most intellectual capital of the world and Massachusetts Institute of Technology are drug addicts and involved in fight. Every week there is one or two murders are reported. Mayor Marty Walsh who was very concerned about these incidents asked me how drug addicts and clashes in campus can be brought down, I suggested to introduce Yoga. Based on our suggestion, they will be conducting international conference on yoga based on subject ‘Mind Body Medicine’ at Harvard University on June 29.
