Mysuru: Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs, who performed the last rites of Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, had on Feb.19, 2015, filed a petition at a Civil Court in Mayo Hall Court Complex, Bengaluru, seeking a stay on Yaduveer’s adoption, which was, however, not granted sources said.

It has now come to light that based on the petition filed by Kantharaj Urs, the Civil Court, which refused to stay the adoption, posted the case to Apr. 10 for hearing, issued summons to eight persons — Pramoda Devi, late Wadiyar’s sisters Meenakshi Devi, Kamakshi Devi, Indrakshi Devi and Vishalakshi Devi, Tripurasundari Devi (mother of Yaduveer), Deepa Malini and Keerthi Malini Devi.
Besides seeking a stay into the adoption of Yaduveer by Pramoda Devi, Kantharaj Urs had also sought nullifying of July 1984 property distribution deed among members of the royal family on 1:24 ratio by late Wadiyar alleging that the deeds had been signed by members of the family who were helpless.
Kantharaj Urs, in his petition, has further said that as he, his sisters Deepa Malini and Keerthi Malini were minors at the time of the execution of the property deeds and his another sister Tripurasundari Devi (mother of Yaduveer) was the only one who had attained majority, his father late Sardar K.B. Ramachandra Raj Urs, who acted as their guardian, had signed the deed under pressure.
He has further alleged that the sisters of Wadiyar, who should have got properties of the royal family on a 1:6 ratio, have been awarded properties on a 1:24 ratio, thus betraying him of his legitimate share in the properties.
He has cited as many as 58 properties in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Srirangapatna and Hassan. Interestingly, the petition was filed on Feb. 19, four days before the adoption ceremony of Yaduveer on Feb.23.
