Mysuru: The 4 robbers who had allegedly robbed 10 shops on 31 May have been arrested by the Bilikere Police. The incident had created panic in the town.
In a press meet held at Superintendent of police office, SP Abhinav Khare said, “The accused have been identified as Lokesh, resident of Dammanahalli, K R Nagar taluk, Harisha, Jammaladinni village, Vijayapura district, Ranga, Ananthapura, Andra Pradesh state, Gajendra, Rajasthan have been arrested. Police have seized Rs 42, 700, 93 gram gold ornaments, 147 gram silver and 4 mobile phones have been seized.”
“The accused were previously stealing at railway stations. They had then teamed up and had started to rob shops. They were pick pocketing too. Cases have been registered at Tumkur and Vayyalikalu, Bengaluru cases have been registered”, Khare added.
Among the accused,. Harish was working in rolling shutter manufacturing shop. He was well versed in opening the shutters silently. He was the leader and led from the front. After stealing from 10 shops on a single day, the team had dispersed to other places. Based on a tip off, Gajendra was arrested on June 6 and during enquiry he revealed the other team members names and soon afterwards, the police arrested the other accused.
Hunsur DCP D Jayaram, CPI, Hunsur circle, M Dharmendra, PI, DCIB Gopal Krishna, ASI, Bilikere G Purushotham, PSI M R Lava, constables, Prabhakar, Chethan, Jagadeesh Shetty, Lokesh Reddy, Vasanthkumar and many other police officials were part of the investigation.
