Mysuru: Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad has announced political retirement after the upcoming Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections.

Prasad, who is also the District In-Charge Minister of Mysuru, said that though the decision was taken on health grounds, he has an intention of making way for newcomers.
In his career spanning over 41 years, Prasad became the Lok Sabha member five times from Mysuru-Chamarajnagar constituency and got elected twice as the MLA including a union minister once. He has also served in various disciplines in the Congress party. Prasad thanked all his supporters and party members for being with him throughout.
Since voting in the upcoming Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections are based on party symbols, Prasad said that he would want to support the party candidates adding that a win will ensure that he has cemented his place in the hearts of the public.
Let youth get chance
Recalling his early days in politics, he said that he too was a student when he walked into the Parliament in the presence of Rajiv Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said that as the senior party members those days stepped down to promote youngsters, people like him could get an opportunity. Likewise, he wanted to give hardworking youngsters a chance to represent people with true spirit.
