Mysore: If you have torn or damaged currency notes or notes with something scribbled on it, then please return it to a nearest bank branch in exchange for another note. Or else you will be at a loss as such notes are banned from January 1, 2014. Already the Reserve Bank of India has issued a circular in this regard and strict action will follow.

However, with sufficient number of such notes still under circulation, the RBI is now trying to sensitize the people on its latest order by putting up posters in various places of the city.

The posters say such damaged currency notes or notes with anything written on it will not be accepted in hotels shops or in any other place and will have to be returned to the banks before January 1. Even hoteliers and shopkeepers are putting up such posters as part of the awareness drive.
