Mysore: A protest was staged in front of the Mysore City Corporation Office here on Thursday August 7 opposing the proposal to construct a modern-mechanised abattoir at RS Naidu Nagar in the city. The protest was organised by the Federation of organisations opposing modern abattoir.

The protestors said they would not allow the setting up of the abattoir in the area at any cost and complained that the abattoir would inconvenience residents of the locality. They also stated that repeated appeal to the City Corporation and Mayor in this regard proved futile.

Some even pointed out that the location of abattoir in the area would  also affect the religious shrines in the locality. They warned of severe protest if the abattoir was not set up in some other place and accused the District in-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad NR Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait and other leaders of neglecting the problem.

Retired principal SS Jois, SK Mittal, Asha Nagabhushan, M Mallappa Gowda, and others participated in the protest.
