Mysore :Mysore Facilitation of release of 18 prisoners, who have been languishing in jail, despite completion of their prison terms due to non-payment of penalty, will mark Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s birthday celebration in city on Aug 12.
At a press meet, former ZP President and Congress leader K. Marigowda said that senior Journalist Rajashekar Koti will formally inaugurate the celebration at the Mysore Central Jail at 11.30 am, which will be presided over by District in-Charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad.
ZP President Dr. Pushpavathi Amarnath, State Women’s Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa, Legislators Tanveer Sait, M.K. Somasekhar, Vasu and Dharmasena will be present on the occasion, he said.
Continuing, Marigowda said a host of other programmes has been organised to mark the CM’s 67th birthday celebration, which includes performance of special pujas at temples across the district including Siddarameshwara temple in Varuna and Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud.
“Cutting of a cake weighing 67 kgs by members of Kurubara Sangha, H.D. Kote, distribution of fruits to inmates of old age homes and patients at K.R. Hospital in city. Also, school and college students at several places will be distributed sweets and note books by Congress leaders to mark the occasion,” he said.
Congress leaders Govindaraj and Ayub Khan will plant saplings at Udayagiri in, Marigowa said and added that several Congress leaders will be distributing sweets to the public at K.R. Circle in the morning.
Congress leaders Krishna Kumar, Koorgalli Mahadev, C. Javarappa, H.C. Krishna Kumar Sagar and others were present at the press meet.
