Rains wreak havoc in city: farmers demand compensation for damaged crops

Mysuru: The city has been facing severe damages with incessant rains having destroyed more than 100 acres of Paddy fields.

Water channels like “Devarayana Nale” at Naganahalli, Chamaraja Yedadande Nale at Gandhanahalli K R Nagara Taluk have also been damaged and broken owing to the rain havoc.

The paddy fields have been completely destroyed as the water is said to have rushed to the fields. Crops like Banana, Tomato and others are also said to have been destroyed due to the heavy flow of rain water.

Farmers have complained that the poor quality in construction and bad maintenance of channels is the main reason for the damage. They have demanded for compensation for the destroyed crops as well.

The water irrigation department officials will be visiting the places affected, it has been reported.
