Mysuru: 33 year old Shinoji R Rao, Railway employee who was facing charge of missing of money from Arsikere Railway Station committed suicide by consuming poison at a private lodge at Lashkar Mohalla limits on Saturday night.

According to police, Shinoji was under stress for being made alleged accused in the missing of Rs 10.35 lakh cash from Arsikere Railway Station. Though his family resided in Srirampura in Mysuru, Shinoji was under stress and checked into private lodge on Friday morning. On Saturday evening, foul smell was started to emanate in the hotel, when the employees of hotel started to check from where exactly it was coming, they came to it was coming from Shinoji room. Along with the police when they opened the door they came to know Shinoji committed suicide by consuming poison. Immediately the police and hotel staff alerted the family members and the body was later shifted to KR Hospital mortuary. The family members allege that he was disappointed and depressed with the ongoing case against him. He is survived by wife and two children. Lashkar Police have registered a case.
The then Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K Anil Kumar transferred few employees including Shinoji against whom circumstantial evidence was strong. Shinoji who was working as commercial clerk in Arsikere was transferred to Ashokapuram Railway Station in Mysuru. Later based on circumstantial evidence, Railway Protection Force, Mysuru division, South Western Railway who were investigating the case, including Shinoji arrested five railway employees who were working at Arsikere Railway Station during the time of crime on last week of November. For further investigation, along with Railway Protection Force, Central Bureau of Investigation is also investigating on the case. Few days back, CBI personnel had called four of the employees including Shinoji who were working at Arsikere Railway Station at the time of crime for enquiry.
Yathish, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mysuru Division, South Western Railway said “I don’t want to comment about the case as it is in court but one thing is sure that he was under suspension.”
It can be brought to light that on August 15, Rs 10.35 lakh which was the total collection of Arsikere Railway Station including tickets and parcel collection for four days was found missing. The complaint regarding missing of cash was given by K Sumalatha and Senior Supervisor Riyaz Ahmed. Soon RPF took up the case and started investigating. During preliminary investigation it came to know that the box in which the cash was kept was not broken and it was found intact. Apart from this it came to light that no outsiders involved in the crime and it is been done by the insiders.
