Mysuru: Believe it or not! A dead body arrives every year during Ramadan public prayer (Namaz) at Edgah grounds (Maidan). Not once or twice, since 42 years the co-incidence of a dead body being brought to the ground during Ramzan Namaz has taken place without fail.

As usual thousands of people including clerics and bigwigs participate in the prayer meeting at the Edgah grounds. Well, at the same time a dead body arrives which is kept behind the wall against which all bow down during the Ramzan Namaz. Every Muslim prays for the departed soul for 5 minutes. Then the body is taken for burial.

This Ramzan prayer meet at the Maidan was no different except that it was 42nd occasion when a dead body was given a mass prayer as it proceeded to meet its maker.

The belief is that if any one dies on the eve of Ramzan, in any part of the city and if his body is brought and prayers are offered, then the person’s soul will rest in heavenly peace, according to city corporator Sohail Baig.

However, the identity of the dead person will always remain a closely guarded secret!
