Mysuru: Celebrations had just begun to mark Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanthi after the district administration had made elaborate arrangements. A man in Kempegowda’s attire who rode on a pony back to commemorate the event went for a toss after the panic-stricken animal dropped the man on the middle of the road fearing the tempo of drum beats near K R circle in the city.
Cultural teams had joined the celebrations which began at the city palace entrance-marching in procession singing and dancing to the beat of drums. Traditional dances like Kamsale, Dollu Kunitha and Veeraghase were being performed on the occasion.
The procession had reached the heart of the city at K R Circle and the drummers accompanying the dancers increased the tempo sending the crowd into a state of frenzy. In a flash, the pony assigned to carry the man dressed in Kempegowda attire dropped him and started running helter-skelter.
Fortunately, none was injured in the incident at the event to commemorate Kempegowda, the man who established Bengaluru in 1537 as the capital of his erstwhile kingdom.
