Mysuru: The city police have managed to arrest a criminal wanted for the past two-years, who has several cases of robbery as well as a murder case against him, said SP Abhinav Khare addressing a press meet on Wednesday.
The culprit has been identified as Rafeeq (36) a resident of Beedi colony in Chamaraja Nagar and a native of Ervadi in Tamil Nadu, informed Khare.
Adding to the details, Khare said that on 18 March 2013, Rafeeq fled from the clutches of escort policemen near Hullahalli on the way to Central Prison at Mysuru, after producing him at a court in Gundulpet. The convict has indulged in two thefts reported during October and November, he said.
The circle Police Inspector D Ashok had information over the absconder frequently visiting his relative at Chamarajanagar. Following the case Police have recovered 80 grams of gold from Rafeeq. He is also said to be the member of a gang that was involved in robbery cases, allegedly the robbery led to the death of a person named Humayun on April 19, Khare added.
Rafeeq were found guilty and had been awarded life imprisonment. The Nanjangudu rural Police have played an important role in solving the case.

Stressing more on the technology friendly activity the District Police also launched an online mechanism to receive complaints through WhatsApp. SP Abhinav Khare told that people may lodge complaints related to law and order, corruption, Crime, traffic, corruption charges with WhatsApp number 9480805000.
