Mysuru: MLA N Mahesh of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) criticised the Congress party, here on Thursday, April 4 for its poverty eradication promises.
Addressing the BSP meeting he said, “The Congress party has been saying from the time of Indira Gandhi that it will eradicate poverty from the nation. It has been 48 years and no measures have been taken towards it. They are fooling the people.”
“People, keeping faith on the Indira Gandhi’s slogan ‘Garibi Hatao Desh Bachao’ (eradicate poverty, save the nation) had voted for Congress. Now his grandson and AICC President Rahul Gandhi has promised of providing Rs 6000 monthly and annually Rs 72000 to 5 crore below poverty line families. Now the question is whether it will actually help.”
Commenting on the Congress rule for about 60 years, he said, “It doesn’t become a democratic nation if only one party rules the nation for 60 years but it becomes a dictatorial one. Because of this type of regime, the country will not see any development but will remain stagnant.”
He termed the Congress party and its leaders fake, untrustworthy and undemocratic.
Mahesh also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government stating, “In 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come to power giving new hopes that it would bring back the black money stashed in the foreign banks and would deposit Rs 15 Lakh in every individual’s account. They had also promised of 2 crore employment opportunities. All the promises remained just words and nothing materialised.”
“PM Modi is Indira Gandhi version 2.0”, he ridiculed.
Meanwhile, he said that on April 10 and 11, BSP chief Mayawati would be addressing the party conference in the Maharaja College grounds and then leaving for Chennai.
