Mysuru: In what has come as a shocking revelation, empty bottles and syringes with traces of performance enhancing drugs were found at the venue of an ongoing Inter-university Wrestling Championship in Mysuru University organised by the University of Mysore and Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for Men and Women.
The finding of these drugs led to suspicion that the participants of the wrestling tournament are using them.
The syringes and needles were found near the toilets of Mysuru University Sports Pavilion and the indoor stadiums of Maharaja’s and Yuvaraja’s College.
Association of Indian Universities (AIU) observer Rajendra Singh Khatri has allegedly said that the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) should look into the issue and “if any participant has used drugs and they should be banned”. He is also said to have got into a heated argument with the media persons.
It has been reported that the organisers have informed NADA about the incident and are now looking further into the case. Sportspersons and the officials conducting the matches are also being probed, it is said.
The organisers also took written statements from the participants that if they are found guilty of doping, they will be stripped of medals and certificates.
