Mysuru: Cultural and clean city is getting decked up for Dasara with preparations in full swing. Mighty Arjuna is leading the herd of pachyderms during rehearsal from palace premises to Bannimantap grounds.
The rehearsal takes place everyday where sand-laden pachyderms cover a distance of 5 kms. Pachyderms are being treated well with adequate food and are given bath twice a day. When the second batch of pachyderms join the first batch the rehearsal becomes rigorous so that nothing goes awry during Dasara.
Herd leader Arjuna is trained to carry 750 kgs weight which is equivalent to that of golden howdah which he is supposed to carry during procession on Vijayadashami day.
The rehearsal has already started drawing crowds as people throng to watch well oiled pachyderms line up to perform their duties. Arjuna presently is followed by the rest namely Balarama, Abhimanyu, Gajendar and Cauvery during the rehearsal.
