Mysuru: A youth stopped Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy for 20 seconds on the middle of the road, in Mysuru on Saturday at Kautilya Circle near Crawford Hall at 7.35 pm.
The incident occurred when Modi was heading towards Lalitha Mahal Hotel, after attending the centenary celebrations of Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Swami of Suttur Mutt at Maharaja’s College grounds.
When Modi’s BMW car arrived near the circle, the youth suddenly plunged in front of the car, stopping the vehicle for 20 seconds before the Special Protection Group (SPG), sent the youth aside and cleared the way.
DG & IGP Om Prakash has refused to called it a security breach adding that the incident has been blown out of proportion.
“The intruder was no way near the convoy. He shouted the prime minister’s name and started running towards his car. The SPG personnel detained him and handed him over to the police,” he said.
Mysuru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has obtained the CCTV footage and is looking into whether there was any security breach, he said.
Preliminary probe revealed that the youth was not carrying any weapon. “He is an engineering graduate and a fan of PM?Modi.
