Mysuru: Over 2000 students formed a human chain to create awareness on voting among the people, as the district goes for the first phase of elections on April 18.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), District SVEEP Committee and JSS Science and Technology University organised the human chain at the SJCI Engineering College ground.
Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Dr. C G Betsurmath, asked everyone gathered there to vow that they will vote on April 18.
“In a democratic society, voter is the king. You own your vote. To safeguard democracy, one should vote without coming under the influence of religion, caste, sect and social status,” said Dr. C G Betsurmath.

Election is the festival of democracy and every citizen should participate in it. The youth should also encourage their family members, friends, relatives and neighbours to vote.”
MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, JSS Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor B G Sangameshwara, Registrar K S Lokesh, Principal T N Nagabushan, MCC Additional Commissioner Shivananda Murthy and SVEEP District Secretary Krishna among many others were present at the event.
