Over 100 international experts to deliver talks in Intl Food Convention at CFTRI

Mysuru: The Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) (AFSTI) in association with CFTRI-CSIR and DFRL-DRDO will be organising its 8th International Food Convention 2018 (IFCoN 2018) with the focal theme “Holistic Approaches for Start up, Food Innovation and Human Resource Training for Agriculture and Food Industry Gemmation” (HASHTAG) at the CFTRI premise from December 12 to 15. Many prominent internationally recognised speakers from research and academic institutes, industry, government and autonomous bodies, and students from food science and technology institutes across the globe are expected to present talks during four-day IFCON event.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Aashitosh A Inamdar, Organising Secretary, IFCON said, “The 8th IFCON will have about 25 technical sessions spread over the four days of the conference and involve about 100 Internationally recognised speakers. The conference is expected to fetch about 2000 registered delegates. The four-day mega event is an ideal platform for deliberation, networking and exchange of knowledge and partnerships between global stakeholders for addressing the issues related to societal outreach, industrial, research and academic collaborations.”

“Platforms will be provided for the presentation of original research works in the Oral as well as Poster Sessions. The mega Food Expo organised during the conference provides an unique opportunity for the manufacturing industry, analytical laboratories, ingredients manufacturers, educational institutes and various other stakeholders in the field of food to showcase their activities and scope for business and other mutual collaborations. The annual AFSTI awards will be presented to the achievers in the field of food science and technology during the inaugural function and the best oral and poster presentations will be awarded during the valedictory function of the conference”, added Aashitosh. Prabodh Halde is the organising committee chairman. He also mentioned that the expo will be open for public on December 13 and 14 and called upon the public to get acquainted with the knowledge and opportunity in the food industry. The preparation for the mega event IFCON 2018 which is held once in five years started one year ago after taking permission from the Ministry of Food Processing. The platform will also facilitate exchange of ideas from different experts who will be coming from across the globe, he added.

Pawan Kumar Agarwal, CEO, FSSAI will inaugurate IFCON 2018 at KSOU Convocation Hall on December 12 at 2.30 PM. Food Expo will be inaugurated by Anand Chordia, MD, Suhana Pravin Masalewala, Pune while KSMS Raghava Rao, Director of CSIR-CFTRI will inaugurate poster session.
