One-and-half-yr-old boy dies after drinking kerosene

Mysuru: In a tragic incident, an one-and-half-year old baby boy died after he drank kerosene mistaking for water, at Gousiyanagar in Mysuru on Tuesday.

Irfan, son of Mohammed Yasin and Nasreen Taj is the deceased.

On Monday, Yasin had brought kerosene from the store and kept it at home, before proceeding to his relative’s house to borrow some curry for lunch.

Nasreen was breastfeeding their younger child, which is just four-months old, due to which she failed to realise that Irfan, who was asleep was up and had walked up to the bottle of kerosene and consumed the same thinking it is water.

Though an unconscious Irfan was rushed to the hospital, he died after remaining unresponsive to treatment.

A case has been registered at Udayagiri police station.
