Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that he had proved wrong many of his detractors including astrologers who predicted that he will not be presenting the 2014-15 state budget after a crow sat on his car but he had presented two budgets following the incident and that he would be presenting two more state budgets.
Speaking after inaugurating the six day annual Suttur Jathra Mahotsav at Suttur here he said, “After a crow was spotted sitting on my vehicle, which is termed as a sign of bad luck, there were lot of discussions in the electronic media from astrologers and many such people that bad time had started for Siddaramaiah and he might lose the chief minister’s post but none of their predictions went right. We should not give importance to such blind belief instead we should think scientifically. Few days back when I was in Manjeshwar in Kerala to attend a function, crow’s dropping fell on my thigh. After this incident too there was lot of discussion in media whether the dropping from the bird fell on my right thigh or on my left thigh. I am not against beliefs but against superstition. It’s all baseless and really senseless that’s the reason I had decided to come out with the anti-superstition bill but many people are opposing the same. I analyse things scientifically”.
Suttur Jathra is different from other jathras:
Siddaramaiah while appreciating the contribution of Suttur seers towards education, health and culture said, “The Jathra is different from other jathras for various reasons. Those who come here also get to update their knowledge. The programs like Krishi mela, exhibition especially on various awareness programs including cashless transaction are relevant topics and very much need of the hour.
I am in favor of Ahinda but I am not restricted only to Ahinda:
On the occasion Siddaramaiah also said “Many tell me that I am favoring Ahinda, I am in favor of Ahinda but I am not restricted only to Ahinda. If I was restricted to Ahinda I would have not come out with various welfare schemes including Anna bhagya, Ksheera bhagya and other various schemes which is benefitting not only Ahinda but also all other communities”.
I miss former minister Mahadeva Prasad:
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his speech at Suttur also remembered his close friend Mahadeva Prasad who died of cardiac arrest few weeks back. “Whenever I used to come to Suttur, he used to accompany me. It’s not only a great loss to me but also to the party”.
Education to all is need of the hour:
“If society wants to progress, education is only the solution. Only through education we can see changes in the society. In this regard JSS has done commendable work by providing free education to many people especially the ruralites”.
Siddaramaiah also inaugurated various programs including drawing and painting, Krishi mela, exhibition, rangoli competition. The Suttur Jatra Mahotsav will conclude on January 29
