Mysuru: Environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka appealed on Sunday that Chamundi Hill is a religious place and trees around giving shade to Gods should not be cut.
The veteran environmentalist who spoke after inaugurating a new organisation ‘Namasthe Mysuru’ at Roopanagar said that already many houses have been built atop Chamundi Hill hence there should be no further construction at Chamundi Hill.

“The ongoing developmental works which is being undertaken by the State government should be stopped. Look after trees and plants like your children, instead of chopping them for vested interest. The government’s decision is not right and I am against the ongoing developmental work at Chamundi Hill,” she said.

She also called upon the government to take stringent action against those who involve in lake encroachment.

Construct maternity hospital

“I had requested the government to construct a maternity hospital in my home town. Though a couple of years back, the government assured me that they will build it, they failed to take initiative and the project yet to become a reality” said Thimmakka.

Will try to look after monthly expense of Saalumarada Thimmakka

Lohitt Urs, the international motor sport champion of Namasthe Mysuru said, “The Central government has instructed the State government to look after the maintenance and expenses of Thimmakka which is under progress in various stages. Till the government comes out with a helping hand, we will try to help Thimmakka”.

The members of Namasthe Mysuru want to come out with a mini forest at a one acre land in Roopanagar.
