Mysuru: The 96th convocation of the University of Mysore, coinciding with its centenary year, will be held on April 11 and this year Honorary Doctorate will be conferred on three achievers-Infosys Co-Founder N R Narayana Murthy, Ari Adichunchanagiri Shishana Trust President Nirmalanandanatha Swami and Niti Ayoga and Defence Scientist Vijay Kumar Saraswath .
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday Mysuru Vice-Chancellor K S Rangappa said that Murthy will deliver the convocation address as well.
He said that 28,687 students are eligible to receive various degrees, out of which 60 pc are women-ie 17,221 women will receive the degree along with 11,466 men.
A total of 461 candidates will receive Ph.D., out of which 176 are women and 285 are men.
Out of 28,687 candidates, 7,189 candidates will be conferred with master’s degree. Of them, 3,845 are women. Of the 21,037 candidates who will receive Bachelor’s degree, 13,200 are women.
The valedictory of the centenary celebrations of the university will be held on July 22 and Vice President Hamid Ansari has confirmed his participation.
