Mysuru: The Irrigation Department has released water on Saturday July 9 to Tamil Nadu from the Kabini and KRS reservoirs due to heavy rains that have been lashing the neighbouring districts of Kodagu in Karnataka and Wayanad in neighbouring Kerala.
The water level in the KRS has reached 122.5 feet against the maximum of 124.8 feet due to the Heamavathi achukat area experiencing intense rainfall.
With this, 13,511 cusecs of water were released from KRS on Saturday. The water level in the KRS was 88.96 feet around the same time last year.
Following heavy rains in Kerala, irrigation officials have released 1,000 cusecs of water from the Kabini reservoir in the H D Kote Taluk. The water level has risen to 2,281.33 ft, against the maximum capacity of 2,284 ft, with an inflow of 15,727 cusecs of water. With an inflow of 14,710 cusecs and a release of 14,100 cusecs, Kodagu’s Haranagi reservoir is brimming.
