Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, in association with Karnataka Police Department is organising a free health check up camp to screen police staff and their family members in the City for speech, language and hearing disorders.

The camp will be held for three days from Monday July 11 to Wednesday July 13 at the office of the City Armed Reserve (CAR) Parade Ground. Dr. Chandragupta, Commissioner of Police, Mysuru and Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH will inaugurate the programme on Monday at 10.00 am.

Following the inauguration, expert audiologists, speech-language pathologists and ENT doctors of AIISH will screen more than 600 police and family members. The police are often exposed to loud noises, high pollution and adverse environmental conditions, which increases their risk of developing communication disorders. Those above 50 years are at a greater risk. The periodic screening will facilitate early identification of communication disorders, in turn leading to effective management. The staff will be also oriented on the precautionary measures that they can take to minimise the risk of communication disorders.
