Illegal transportation: Police seize Anna Bhagya rice

Mysuru: Nanjanagudu Rural Police on Friday June 17 has seized ‘Anna Bhagya’ rice along with the lorry used to illegally transport the rice.

The goods lorry was transporting rice bags illegally from Nanjanagudu Town towards Mysuru when the police intercepted the vehicle and seized the rice along with the vehicle. The operation was carried out under the direction of Nanjanagudu Rural Circle Inspector Shivananja Shetty.

As many as 268 bags of rice each weighing 40 kgs worth Rs 1.56 lakh were seized by the police. However, the driver of the seized lorry escaped from the scene. The seized rice has been handed over to the Taluk Food Probation Officers. Taluk Food Inspector Ravindra and staff inspected the rice bags.

A case has been registered against the illegal transportation of the ration and the absconding driver by the Food Inspectors at Nanjanagudu Rural Police Station.
