Mysuru zoo had highest number of tourists this year

Mysuru: Mysuru zoo, one of the best tourist destination has recorded highest number of visitors this year. When compared to last two years, year 2015-16 had over 31.85 lakh tourists.
The Jayachamarajendra zoo has beaten its previous record with a record number of visitors.

In the year 2012-13 over 30.36 lakh tourists visited the zoo and brought about Rs 1202.62 lakhs gate revenue. In the year 2013-14 there were 30.49 lakh visitors and the total revenue earned by the zoo was Rs 1310.14 lakhs. In 2014-15, there were over 31.63 tourists and the zoo earned 1621.43 lakh revenue.

In 2015-16 over 31.85 lakh visitors and the zoo earned revenue of Rs 1679 lakhs.

Visitors to Karanji lake doubled

When compared to last three years the number of visitors to Karanji Lake Nature Park (KLNP) has doubled. In 2012-13 over 2.85 lakhs tourists visited with gate collection of Rs 65.19 lakhs. In 2015-16 over 3.13 tourists stepped in to the lake with a gate collection of Rs 88.70 lakhs.

On October 24, highest footfalls on a single day during the year was registered with 36, 685 tourists visiting the zoo realising a collection of Rs. 20.35 lakh, said zoo director Venkateshan.
