Mysuru turns tense with news of assault on Kanadigas in Tamil Nadu

Mysuru: Vehicles belonging to Tamil Nadu are under attack in Mysuru by agitators who have been upset over the release of water to Tamil Nadu. However, the situation has turned tense after news of attack on Kannadigas in Tamil Nadu has been making rounds.

A four wheeler has been torched at Chamundipuram while a lorry has been stoned at Nazarbad. In the wake of these two incidents, Mysuru city police has increased its patrolling. The pro-kannada activists are staging protest across the city. The agitators have demanded the government not to release water to Tamil Nadu.  On Monday Supreme Court directed Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu till September 20.

Tense situation in Mandya

When the mob torched lorry belonging to Tamil Nadu and ransacked shops in Pandavapura, police fire in the air to control the situation. The agitators indulged in stone pelting forcing the cops to fire in the air. There is tension in Mandya and most of the commercial establishments have downed their shutters.

Latest report state that shops owned by Tamil persons too are under attack. Vehicles coming to Karnatka from TN are being stopped at Chamarajanagar by the police as safety measure.
