Mysuru: BL Bhairappa, Mayor of Mysuru who had earlier decided to tender resignation citing injustice to Karnataka in Cauvery water dispute has taken a U-turn.
When media persons asked about his decision, he said that he had decided to tender his resignation following repeated setbacks to Karnataka at the Supreme Court in sharing Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu. “But as the Chief Minister and the Cabinet ministers have not resigned, I too will not tender my resignation,” he said.
Bhyrappa, upset with Supreme Court judgment, which went against the people of Karnataka decided to tender resignation on September 13, while attending Mayor’s conference in Netherlands. Soon after the verdict was pronounced by the Supreme Court which went agianst the interest of Karnataka, he sent a message that he will tender resignation on his return from Netherlands on September 16.
