Mysuru: A school boy and three others escaped with minor injuries when a crude bomb exploded inside the bathroom of Mysuru District Court at 4:10 pm here on Monday, August 1. Police along with a canine squad rushed to the spot.
The injured persons have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Soon after the explosion, the people who were inside the court ran out for their safety. It was a rare experience at the city court. The sound the explosion was heard nearly a kilometer away. The wall of the court building was slightly damaged and glass window panes were shattered owing to the explosion. Top police officials have cordoned the area and are investigating. Sources said that they have found two unidentified bags.
Meanwhile, Home Minister G Parameshwara visited the blast spot. Speaking to media persons Parameshwar said, “Due to the blast window panes, doors and the toilet building has been damaged. Forensic experts are collecting materials. Only after the report comes, we will come to know the type of explosion. Though the explosion is small, the intensity was more”.
Chandramouli, President, Mysuru bar association said, “This is first time, such an incident is reported at the district court. In days to come, security will be enhanced at the court, including installing of more CCTV cameras. Every day, more than 400 to 500 under trials come to court apart from 1000 to 1500 general public. There are 24 different courts in this premise. After the blast at 4.10pm all proceedings at the court were suspended”.
Police sources said that the samples from the blast site have been sent for investigation.
