Mysore: PA Gopal, Chief Executive Officer of the Mysore Zilla Panchayat has warned stringent action against educational institutions that flout the Right to Education Act guidelines.

Participating in an interactive programme on RTE organised at the Jaganmohan Palace here on January 24, Friday under the aegis of the Zilla Panchayut and the Public Education Department, he said it has come to the notice of the authorities that some educational institutions were not adhering to the RTE guidelines despite enjoying grants and facilities from the government. Already action has been recommended against eight institutions which have violated the RTE Act, he said.
He also stated that it was a matter of pride for Mysorites that the government chooses Mysore city for implementing any new projects on a pilot basis.
Gopal further said it is not proper to term private educational institutions as prestigious when government schools as well as aided institutions were also offering quality education.
Urging teachers against punishing students, he instead suggested that children must be lovingly convinced to concentrate on studies.
E Nanjappa, former Deputy Director of Public Instructions HR Basappa, DDPI, DV Kantha, Education Officer, Manjula, Senior Lecturer and others were present.
