Mysuru: The followers of a Muslim religious leader vandalised his residence on October 27 night in K R Nagar town. The exact reason behind the attack by 150-strong youth is not known, although the police have arrested 20 in connection with the case.

The leader Mukhtar Aleem had instructed a group of youth to quit alcohol and drugs but what he got in return is beyond anyone’s imagination.

The group of 150 Muslim youth suddenly started pelting stones at Aleem’s residence and damaged the windows and two refrigerators during late hours of October27. They also threw fire balls inside the residence and caused damage to five other houses in the vicinity.

Tension prevailed in the area after the incident and Mysuru S P Ravi D Channannavar rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. A KSRP platoon was summoned to the spot to prevent untoward incidents following the incident.
