Mysuru: The MUDA Commissioner S. Palaiah presented Rs. 2.71 crore surplus Budget for Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) for the year 2015-16. Presenting the Budget at the Conference Hall in MUDA premises, Palaiah said that the Authority, which aims to collect Rs. 425.98 crore income during the year, proposes to spend Rs. 423.27 crore thus saving Rs. 2.71 crore.
Stating that Rs. 38.06 crore has been earmarked for development of roads, underground drainages and other works in extensions coming under MCC limits, Palaiah added Rs. 12.60 crore has been earmarked for completion of civil and electrical works at R.T. Nagar.

Rs. 1.38 crore has been earmarked for protecting MUDA properties, parks and other civic amenities by fencing and erecting MUDA name boards, he said and added that Rs. Two crore has been earmarked for scanning and providing necessary hardware and software for 5,17,220 files at the MUDA.
For development of underground drainages at villages adjacent to MUDA properties, a tender for Rs. 25.25 core has been invited, he said.
The MUDA also allocated Rs10.60 crore to make residential areas and meet the demands of 82,000 applications.
Development of new housing scheme at Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar Nagar, Swarna Jayanthi Nagar, K Hemmanahalli housing layout with a 50: 50 partnership 2484 houses, 2208 houses 540 houses in the respective areas with the farmers under the group housing scheme figure in Mysore Urban Development Authority’s budget proposals for 2015–16.
It has earmarked 10. 60 crore for the civil and other works at R T Nagar and Lalithadripura. While Rs 4. 53 crore has been allocated to Park Development and Green initiatives at MUDA Layouts at Vasanth Nagar, Lal Bahaddur Shasthri Nagar, Lalithadripura, Vijayanagar 3rd stage, Shanthaveri gopalagowda Nagar. Rs 1. 38 crore has been granted for the maintainance of authority assets, parks and encroachments. Rs 200 crore has been allocated to scan 5, 17,220 files, and necessary hardware and scanning works. Rs 25. 25 crore has been allocated to water supply and drainage works at the rural areas adjacent to MUDA. Tender has already been called.
Dwelling upon the sources of revenue, Palaiah said that the Authority expects to generate revenue of Rs. 65.50 lakh by way of taxes for houses built on ‘Own Your House’ scheme and added that MUDA expects to get Rs. 34 crore from distribution of 109 Civic Amenities sites which had been reviewed at the meeting on Mar. 5. The Authority expects to collect Rs. 25 core as development charges from town planning, it aims to collect Rs. 39.43 crore as taxes on commercial complex, shops, houses, vacant sites and other sources.
Elected representatives, including Tanveer Sait, Vasu, M.K. Somashekar, MLAs, DR C G Betsurmath Commissioner Mysuru City Corporation, K R Mohan Chairman Mysuru Urban Development Authority and others were present.
