Mysore: MP, Pratap Simha assured that a Passport Camp in the city will be held during the last week of October. He announced the same after inaugurating World Tourism Day Celebrations in the city on Saturday, organised by Mysore Travel Agents Association.

Clarifying his earlier statement of transforming Mysore to a tourist attraction like Paris, he said, “It has been widely misunderstood. Mysore will be like Paris in terms of the works taken up and the facilities provided. Former chief minister Yeddyurappa has set  an example at Shimoga and we must take up similar works in Mysore,” he said.

Moreover, he highlighted the hitch of poor co-ordination  between various authorities as well as contractors.

He added that so far 32 lakh tourists visited Mysore and the number is increasing, also the city has been ranked  the fourth best tourist destination across the country, yet the facilities are not sufficiently geared up. “We must work together and build Mysore as the number one destination,” he said.

Simha also stressed the  maintenance of cleanliness in the Palace surroundings; further,  the city’s heritage monuments must be given special attention. Simha said, he himself will work hard for this and expects a favorable response from the state government as well.

On the occasion, two railway station porters, two policemen and two guides were felicitated for their services.

Director of Dyuthi Motors RN Vishwas Urs, Mysore Travel Agents Association president SP Shantinath, Director of Mahajana Institute of  Tourism Development Dr. Nagapathi KS were also present.
