Mysuru: A mother has landed in jail who tried to kidnap her own daughter as she was not happy with her daughter’s decision to get married with a boy from some other caste.
Neelakantan, a resident of Peravoor in Tanjavur district of Tamilnadu had married Divya from Mysuru whom he was in love with for quite some time. Due to the opposition from the girl’s family the couple got married at a temple in Chennai and later registered their marriage at the sub-registrar’s office in Rayapuram. They returned to their village near Mysuru but took a house on rent at Hebbal 3rd Phase as they anticipated trouble from the girl’s family.

After knowing the whereabouts of the newly married couple, girl’s mother and grandmother barged into their house and dragged her into a car belonging to Guru on the afternoon of July 5. Immediately Divya’s husband Neelakantan alerted the police. The police swung into action and stopped their car near the check post on the Tamilnadu highway and brought all of them to the Metagalli police station.

Incident close to Bollywood action flick?

Divya’s father died last year and she became the only heir apparent to the property owned by her grandfather worth 7 crore rupees. According to Divya’s mother, her husband Neelakantan has brain washed her in the pretext of love and later married her for the sake of property. However the police have arrested both the mother and grandmother for attempting to kidnap Divya.
