Mysuru: Congress and JD(S) candidates have won the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar twin seats in the recently held Council elections. Congress candidate Dharmasena and JD(S) candidate Sandesh Nagaraj won in the early round of counting itself. Meanwhile, independent candidate Vatal Nagaraj faced a huge setback by securing only 11 votes.
The counting was underway at JSS College. The Congress candidate secured 3094 votes, followed by JD(S) which won 2247 votes.

Speaking after the spectacular win, Congress candidate Dharmasena told News Karnataka, “The credit for my win goes to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Also, all the ministers and MLAs who worked hard for my win”.

The JD(S) candidate said, “I would have won by 4500 votes. The reason for my loss is local JD(S) leaders. I will complain to high command. It doesn’t matter even if they sack me from the party”.

BJP lost due to internal conflict within the party it is said.

Despite a unique campaign strategy Vatal Nagaraj did not make it and lost with a mere 11 votes.
