Kushalnagar: Janata Dal (Secular) MLA’s son involved in running a prostitution racket at a home stay near Kushalnagar was nabbed along with four others including a woman from Somwarpet by the rural police on September 11.

Based on a tip off, police raided River View home stay near Chikkabetageri village near Guddehosur and arrested a businessman Rajiv along with homestay owner Prasnnna. Two others Madhu and Pramod were also arrested. A Maruti Alto car and Rs 34500 in cash were seized from the accused. The woman from Somwarpet arrested during the raid was sent to Abhalashram in Kudige.

The nabbed persons were produced in court in Kushalnagar and were later remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. The accused are now lodged in district jail, Madikeri.

In the meantime, it is learnt that Rajiv the businessman involved in the case is the son of Turuvekere JD(S) MLA MT Krishnappa. Since Rajiv did not reveal his identity, the police were not aware of his whereabouts till September 13 evening. However, the news of Rajiv’s arrest was known to his friends in Tumakuru who circulated it to many later.

Rajiv incurred losses in hotel business and switched over to other activities.

The bail application moved by Advocate Suresh on behalf of the accused which came up for hearing today at a court in Kushalanagar was deferred to September 16 as the public prosecutor was on leave.
