Mysuru: Taluk Panchayat President Kumar and GP members busted a racket allegedly involved in illegally selling food items earmarked for children and women in post-natal period of Anganawadi Centre in Ekalavyanagar near JK Tyres on KRS Road.
Kumar apeaking to sources said that a complaint had come that food items earmarked for Anganawadi Centre was being misused for the last 20 days.

“Accordingly on checking it was observed that 60 kg rice, 40 kg wheat, 7 kg pulses, 114 cubes of jaggery, spices, 22 packets of milk powder and other items were found stored in the bathroom of a house adjacent to the Anganawadi Centre in Ekalavyanagar. All the bags containing the items had the seal-For Anganawadi Centre, Batch No. 17, Not For Sale, Government of Karnataka,” explained Kumar.
The inspection was done in the presence of Anganawadi Supervisor Nirmala Kumari.
It was learnt that the teacher and Assistant of the Anganawadi Centre was involved in the crime.
Kumar said that the two persons on the pretext of attending a meeting deliberately did not turn up during the inspection though summoned by the Assistant Director of Women and Child Welfare and Child Development Panchayat officer.
Kumar said that the matter would be informed to the Deputy Commissioner. GP Members Gavirangappa, Jayaram, Venkatesh, Bharath, Mallesh, Manjappa and others were present.
