Mysuru: Taking strong exception to the decision of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) of allotting a luxury car to district in-charge minister’s special officer, the MCC standing committee chairman made allegations of many irregularities in the utilisation of city’s civic body funds.

Close on the heels of government withdrawing CUG mobile telephone connections to 65 corporators and officials, Nandish Pritam, Chairman of the Urban Planning Development Committee of the Corporation released records to the journalists to show misuse of crores of rupees.
He questioned the decision of MCC over allotting a luxury car to the special officer of District In-charge Minister Dr. H C Mahadevappa and termed the idea of giving cars to 8 elected legislators as inappropriate.
Substantiating his claim Nandish Pritam said, “MCC has rented 58 cars in total and pays a rental of Rs 15 Lakh every month which amounts to Rs 1.70 Crore a year. The law does not permit the use of cars and he has returned the car given to him 3 months ago”, and added “I was ready to bear the car rental for 3 months on my own.”
He demanded an enquiry into the car rental “scam” and urged the city corporation commissioner to initiate action to save public funds from being misused by MCC.
