Mysore: Mysore City Corporation (MCC), V-Care Charitable Trust and Vivekananda Institute of Leadership Development (V-Lead) yesterday night launched an ambitious and innovative programme of shifting shelter-less people in the city to rehabilitation centres.

During the programme taken up under the leadership of MCC Nodal Officer Byrahanumaiah and Dr. Manjunath, shelter-less people who were found sleeping on footpaths near Jaganmohan Palace, K.R.Circle, Bus Stand, Sayyaji Rao Road, Dhanvantri Road, Railway Station, K.R. Hospital and surrounding areas were shifted to Rehabilitation Centres.
Byrahanumaiah, speaking to SOM said that the Rs.90 lakh aid given by the Central Government for relocation of the shelter-less during the year 2011-12 had been earmarked for the construction of Rehabilitation Centres with basic amenities.
Dr. Manjunath, speaking on the occasion said that these shelter-less would be housed in centers till the completion of Dasara festivities to prevent them from entering into Palace and surrounding areas which may mar the grandeur of the festivities.
He added that these people would be provided with all necessary facilities.
Dr. Vijay, Dr. Shubhachandra, Dr, Girish Muthanna, Head of V-Care Hospital B. Manu and others took part in the shifting of the shelter-less to the Rehabilitation Centres.
